Speaking at the event, Cabinet Member for Children and Families, Cllr Graham Hinchey, said: "On my recent visit to some of Cardiff Flying Start's services, I saw first-hand the commitment and enthusiasm of parents to attend the parenting groups and courses.

"Everyone here today collecting their certificates can feel very proud of what they have achieved - the dedication to attend weekly courses, whilst also being a parent to a young child or children is commendable.

"For 11 years now, the Cardiff Flying Start programme has worked hard across the city to offer a variety of support to families. I can imagine how rewarding it is for the Flying Start practitioners here today to see so many confident parents and children benefitting from their work.

"Congratulations to all of the parents being rewarded for their hard work. I wish you all the best for the future, and I hope to see many of you here again as you go on to achieve further awards with Flying Start."

Flying Start is a Welsh Government funded programme which is targeted at children aged 0-3 years 11 months and their families, who live in certain areas of Cardiff. It provides a range of services to support both parents and children.
