New innovation offers game-changing benefits for users of export cases and crates

Users of export cases and crates look set to dramatically reduce their costs and their environmental impact thanks to a revolutionary new product.

Recently launched onto the UK market, the VTT Connector is an innovative and patented bracket developed by BeA - a global provider of specialist fastening solutions for the pallet manufacturing and refurbishment and export case and crate sector.

It allows export cases and crates to be delivered flat-packed and then assembled by users on-site, quickly, easily and in a way that ensures the highest levels of performance, protection and structural integrity.

This ability to ship export cases and crates flat-packed rather than pre-assembled is significantly more space efficient helping to dramatically reduce associated carriage costs.

In addition, as space on delivery vehicles can be used more efficiently, it helps to reduce the number of deliveries and vehicle movements required, driving down attributable carbon emissions.

The process of assembling crates using the BeA VTT Connector is incredibly straightforward.

The connectors, which are made from high grade, hot dipped galvanized steel, are bent to right angles and attached to the crate's base. The crate's sidewalls can then be slotted into these base connectors.

Further BeA VTT Connectors are then added to the top of the sidewalls to help hold the walls and the lid (once the crate is closed) in place. The crate can then be filled before the lid is put in position and secured with standard strapping/banding.

Thanks to its user-friendly design, the BeA VTT Connector enables standard, Euro pallet sized crates to be constructed in as little as 120 seconds. Crates based on custom dimensions can be assembled in less than five minutes.

The new BeA VTT Connector also allows cases and crates to be dismantled with equal speed and efficiency. This makes it easier for users to store cases and crates when not in use or to return them to their supplier for recycling.

To ensure customers benefit from total peace of mind in terms of performance, BeA has subjected the VTT Connector to robust and independent testing against international standards and norms by BFSV Verpackungsinstitut Hamburg GmbH - a specialist packaging research and testing institute.

This entailed 16 different sized crates created from OSB and using the new BeA VTT Connectors being subjected to compression, horizontal impact and shock (rotational edge drop) tests. In all cases, the OSB failed before the BeA VTT Connectors.

The new BeA VTT Connector is available in a variety of sizes to suit customer needs and to accommodate all common timber, OSB and plywood thicknesses used to create export cases and crates.

Commenting on the launch of the new VTT Connector, Paul Shepherd, national sales manager at BeA, said: "BeA has a history of developing innovative solutions for customers who manufacture, refurbish or use wooden pallets and export cases and crates. This includes creating products like our unique two-handed nailer which offers improved ergonomics, greater fixing accuracy and enhanced operator safety.

"The launch of our new BeA VTT Connector adds to that track record. It represents a true world first and offers users of export cases and crates some genuinely game-changing benefits in terms of its ability to cut costs, reduce carbon emissions and boost efficiency."
