Bartercard was proud to be Category Sponsor for Women’s Team of the Year at the Crabbies National Rugby Awards 2017 as Barnsley Ladies were announced as this year’s winners.
The event, the largest of its kind in the world, took
place on Wednesday 30 August 2017 at Twickenham Stadium, the home of English
Rugby.
Bartercard are huge supporters of sport, and were
delighted to be involved in the event. Bartercard recently stepped in to save
the day as last-minute match sponsors for the Sheffield Eagles and London
Broncos Rugby league teams.
In keeping with the profile of the event,
attendees included rugby celebrities, members of England Rugby teams and
Premiership players. Just some of the names who attended included Ugo Monye,
Joe Launchbury, Joe Marler, Danny Care, Jonathan Joseph, Jeremy Guscott, Jeff
Probyn and Austin Healy.
The final nominees for each category were judged
by four high profile personalities from the world of rugby. Other finalists for
this years’ Women’s Team of the Year, sponsored by Bartercard, included:
1. Yeovil Ladies
2. Old Northamptonians Ladies
3. Westbury Ladies
4. Bath RFC Ladies
5. Darlington Ladies
The awards offered an exceptional opportunity
for clubs at all levels to gain appreciation for their contributions to the
game. There is no rugby event that is comparable in terms of recognition,
promotional worth and size - in 2015, the awards ceremony was the largest ever
gathering in Twickenham’s Rose Room.
“The National Rugby Awards offered a unique and
proven opportunity to get involved with an event that is the largest of its
kind in the world” said Philip Ciniglio, CEO of Bartercard. “It’s a fantastic
opportunity and Bartercard were proud to be involved with such a prestigious
