The Sound Doctor, one of the UK’s
leading producers of film and audio content for the health sector, will be
hosting an evening with Richard Scudamore, Executive Chairman of the Premier
League, and Professor Patrick Maxwell, Regius Professor of Physic and Head of
the School of Clinical Medicine at Cambridge University.
The Premier League is the most-watched sports
league in the world, available in
over one billion homes. Away from the sports field, the League and Clubs are making a massive investment
in social development, particularly in the fields of education and health.
Richard Scudamore, who’s served as the League’s Chief Executive and then Executive
Chairman for the past 18 years, will share some of his insights and experiences
as to what is making a real difference in young people’s lives.
Professor Maxwell will discuss what we, as patients, can expect from medical innovation in the next few decades. There will, he says, be a complete change in the way medicine in practiced as a result of recent technological advances which mean that it is now quite straight forward and very affordable to sequence a patient’s whole genome leading to the identification of new diseases and better understanding of many well-recognised diseases.
The event is to take place at
Unicorn House, a modern, visionary, events and co-working venue in Cirencester,
on Thursday 30 November, starting at 6.00 pm.
This talk is also a great opportunity for people
to learn more about The Sound Doctor, pioneering effective self management
through patient education. The company’s world class library of around 300 films
focuses on six major areas of health – diabetes, back pain, dementia, heart
failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary heart disease and weight management
surgery.
The Sound Doctor also creates health and
wellness animations to popularise public health messages. These are widely used
in GP surgeries, libraries and now, schools.
These films make a valuable, positive difference
to many people’s healthcare. The very successful evaluations which have been
carried out in several CCGs show significant reductions in visits to the GP and
in avoidable hospital admissions as well as greatly enhanced patient
satisfaction.
Co-founders of The Sound Doctor, Dominic Arkwright and Rosie Runciman, both worked at the BBC for more than 20 years, Dominic as a Today programme reporter and Radio 4 presenter and Rosie as Editor of News hour amongst other roles. They also devised and produced Health Today, a UK radio program for NHS England
This event is of particular interest to leaders in healthcare, business and Local Government.
