Mitsubishi unveils direct view LED display at Infocomm 2016

The new narrow pixel pitch (NPP) display has been designed and built in Japan specifically for use in command and control applications.

Mitsubishi Electric has unveiled a new Direct View, narrow pixel pitch (NPP) LED display at Infocomm 2016. The new screen has been designed specifically for command and control applications, and developed in-house by Mitsubishi Electric in Japan using its own proprietary LED display technology. The preview model showcased at Infocomm is a 130” diagonal 1.5mm pixel pitch screen with a resolution of 1920  x 1080 pixels. Individual pixels are comprised of 3-in-1 SMD LED packages, which have been developed specially for this application.

The new product is the result of over two-years evaluation and development work by Mitsubishi Electric into the use of NPP LED in command and control applications, in particular the issues of long-term colour stability of LED and potential operator fatigue due to excessive brightness. Development work will continue ahead of the commercial launch of the new display in 2017.
