John Howard Studio collective's handmade print in aid of Ukraine | a limited edition of 50 have been created

A group of well-known Cornish artists, with the support of John Howard Print Studio Penryn and The  Poly Falmouth, have come together to create a collaborative artwork to raise money for Ukraine. Feeling desperately moved by news reports of the war and those fleeing the conflict, printmakers including artists Becky Haughton, Clementine Neild, Sally Spens, Sarah Seddon, Caroline Uff, Liz Perry, Lesley Harry, Jenn Green and Caroline Cleave have created nine original hand carved panels, using materials and equipment donated by John Howard, that have been joined together to create a single handprinted artwork. Designs include a Horse Chestnut leaf, which is the symbol of Ukraine's capital city Kiev, alongside flowers, patterns and other images that represent the culture of the country.

Artist Caroline Cleave says: "Behind each symbol is a story of Ukrainian culture that has inspired each artist. In a situation like this, when we all feel we want to reach out and help, it's sometimes best to simply take what we are good at and use it to help our fellow human beings. We want our image to speak out for the people of Ukraine and to raise money to help those in need. Our initial feelings of helplessness have been turned into a positive drive to work together, using the power of art and imagery to create something beautiful that will express our love and compassion, and help those forced from their homes and facing an unknown future".
