Wigan FC on the the up off and on the field

Exciting times to be a Latic fan!

In celebration of having great fans Raileasy want to champion Wigan and their fans,  by getting you back on track to away games.

Wigan is on the up on and off the field, 2 points off the leaders Sunderland, signing their first new official partner in 11 years and having the highest away fan attendance in League 1.

It has now been confirmed that Wigan has signed a deal with Sodexo to become the official partner of the DW stadium their first new partner in 11 years.

The long-term partnership covers public and hospitality catering, as well as conference and event sales and catering.

The stadium will see several upgrades made to it during 2022, with fans also experiencing a cashless stadium going forward.

"Following an extensive search for the stadium's first venue partner since Phoenix 2021 Limited obtained the club, I am delighted to announce Sodexo as the successful bidder," said Latics CEO Mal Brannigan.

A club statement says Sodexo will 'focus on a range of premium culinary experiences for both the matchday and non-matchday experience, ensuring the DW Stadium will continue to be a major conference and events centre in the heart of Wigan'.

The partnership 'will also see a real focus on support for the local community in Wigan, with a strong commitment to source food and beverages from local suppliers and a commitment by Sodexo to hire local staff and support local charity and social impact projects'. Nick Byrom, business development director of Sodexo Sports & Leisure UK.

The good news doesn't just stop there, according to footballwebpages.co.uk Wigan have the highest away attendances this season, with a whopping 22,694 attending away matches this season.

"It's brilliant feels good to get back at the games and be there to support the players the atmosphere has been really good too", @wiganathletic.forever (Fan Instagram)
