Mineral Composite Countertops
When it comes to countertops and bathroom washbasins, durability and beauty are non-negotiable. Countertops bear the brunt of everyday use from the whole family. Solid granite and stone are undeniably beautiful, but the extraction of these raw materials is often not sustainable. Solid granite is mined from quarries, usually in far-flung locations and requires powerful machinery to extract and cut the material.
Granite composites, on the other hand, are made from a blend of natural minerals and a low percentage of resins. This creates a highly durable, hygienic and resistant material that mimics the look of natural stone at a fraction of the environmental and financial price. . It is highly prized for its sustainability and non-porous surface that prevents bacteria and is widely used by architects and interior designers in kitchens and bathrooms.

Wood effect fronts
Longevity and resistance to humidity and water egress are fundamental for bathroom furniture design and selection. Equally, you want to be sure that you're making a sustainable choice. There are five key points[2]to consider when specifying an eco-friendly bathroom design.
1) Are the materials going to last?Decorative surfaces such as wood effect finishes, or high gloss or matt finishes, have been engineered for bathroom use, ensuring that they can stand the test of time.
2) Reducing use of raw materials.Composite materials use less wood fibre than real wood. They can also contain a high percentage of recycled materials - up to 95% of the wood fibre used in particleboard or MDF is left over from other furniture and lumber operations. Equally, they are lighter, easier to handle and allow for integrated wiring and lighting. All chipboard and MDF boards that Pelipal use are environmentally friendly and are significantly below the formaldehyde limit of 0.1 ppm (0.12 mg formaldehyde per m3/g air) permitted by the German Federal Health Office.
3) Manufacturing efficiency.Reducing the manufacturing time saves energy and power. Equally, adding in installation efficiency and the durability of surfaces enhances sustainability.
4) Substitution.Being able to substitute materials with lower environmental impact is an eco-friendly choice. There is no harvesting of walnut, cherry, oak, rosewood or zebrawood, protecting natural resources.
