North Yorkshire business to support Hull Down syndrome charity

Having announced recently thatthey raised £2,700 for theHull based charity Life for a Kid Foundation, the team at a Thixendale rapeseed oilbusiness have named their 2020 Charity of the Year.

The team at Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil are partnering with Downright Specialand hope to raise in excess of £2,000 for the charity thatsupports children with Down syndrome in Hull and the East Riding.

Of the fundraising, Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil's Jennie Palmer said: "We asked our social media followersfor suggestions for charities to support in 2020 and were overwhelmed with the volume of responses. We then polled the top three suggestions, again using social media, and were delighted that Downright Special was the clear winner.

"The charity was formed in 2007 by a group of parents who set out to provide support to each other and any other parents who had children with Down syndrome. This quickly developed into an organised group giving emotional, practical and educational support to families from birth onwards.

"Their goal is simple - to build a brighter future for children with Down syndrome and they do this with no funding from statutory agencies, like the local authority or NHS. We can't wait to do our bit to raise funds to support them. We've lots of plans in place, so watch this space!"

The team plans to raise money through a series of events and a limited edition Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil product. It has set up aVirgin Money Giving Page which sends every donation directly to Downright Special.

Downright Special is a registered charity that assists families and professionals in all aspects of the care and education of children with Down syndrome, supporting them to achieve their full potential and promoting successful inclusion.

Yorkshire Rapeseed Oil was established in 2008 by Adam and Jennie Palmer on their farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Wolds. They produce a range ofoils, dressings and mayonnaisebased on their award-winning rapeseed oil thatis pressed, blended, bottled and labelled on the family farm.
