Agile Business Consortium celebrates its 25thanniversary

A quarter century since its birth as a network of likeminded software developers looking to find more effective ways of working, the Ashford-based Agile Business Consortium is celebrating its 25thanniversary as a leader in promoting business agility with ambitious plansfor the future.

Consortium members are active around the globe, in locations as diverse as Poland, Australia, South East Asia and the USA, whilstAgilePM®*(developed with APMG International) is the most popular agile project management qualification in the world, with more than 100,000 AgilePM exams taken globally.

The agenda for the Consortium's anniversary year includes developing an on-the-ground presence inNorth America, South East Asia and Europe.

Originally known as the DSDM Consortium, the not-for-profit rebranded itself in 2016 to reflect its expanded role as a leader in the field of business agility and a creator of agility training, research and insights that touch on every aspect of business.

Chief Executive John Williams said: "Although we have an impressive pedigree as the world's longest-established agile organisation, our sights are focused on the future and how we can help people and businesses flourish in these fast-moving times.

"One key focus will be on promoting Generation Agile - that incoming generation of talent with the mindset and attitudes to thrive in the workplace of the future, where rigid skill-sets have a limited shelf-life, multiple careers will be the norm and success will demand constant adaptation and learning.

"We shall also be holding our regular annual Agile Business Conference in September - the longest-running agile conference in the world - which this year we are co-hosting with the Business Agility Institute.

"Our plans for our 25thyear include launching new learning products in business agility, introducing our modular Agile Foundations programme to more universities, launching our AgilePM handbook in French and facilitating the improved delivery of digital services by the public sector through our new AgileDS course."

Headquartered in the UK, the Agile Business Consortiumis a founder member of the Business Agility Institute and sponsors academic work by the Agile Research Network.

Notes to Editors

What is an Agile Business?

An agile business is an organisation that can respond quickly and effectively to opportunities and threats whether they are found in its internal or external environments (commercial, legal, technological, social, moral or political).

Agile businesses value:

  • Innovation over status quo
  • Inspiring leadership over conservative management
  • Collaborative autonomy over hierarchical control
  • Customer focus over self-interest

About Agile Business Consortium:

Through our partners APMG International, we have accredited over 300 training organisations worldwide, and over 100,000 Agile Project Managers, Business Analysts and Programme Managers.
