Astute Capital launches asset-backed listed bond with 7% return

Astute Capital launches asset-backed listed bond with 7% return.

Astute Capital has launched an asset-backed five-year listed bond that offers fixed returns of 7 percent gross a year.

The bond will be payable bi-annually and is aimed at investors seeking good returns from a buoyant property and SME funding market. It has a £1,000 minimum investment, and the asset-backed bond is overseen by an experienced credit committee with over 100 years experience.

The Astute Capital Bond can be held in a self-invested personal pension or ISA, and there is no upper investment limit.

The bond has an FCA regulated security trustee that takes a legal charge over investment assets and is listed on a main market stock Exchange allowing the bond to be traded.

Commenting on the launch Timothy Smith, director of Astute Capital said: "We aim to provide unrivalled levels of transparency and give investors similar returns as they can secure in the peer to peer market but without the risk that comes with uneducated lending."

Astute creates its income for its investors by providing short-term asset-backed loans to companies in the UK. The loans are made at maximum of 80 percent loan-to-value to provide a minimum 20 percent buffer before capital is put at risk. A legal charge is taken over all investment assets on behalf of bondholders / investor.

Smith continued: "Funds invested in the Astute Capital Bond are spread across a diverse range of  loans, which gives bondholders peace of mind that the investment is diversified and overseen by an FCA regulated security trustee that a legal charge over investment assets."

The bond is listed on the Irish Stock Exchange and is subject to extensive regulatory listing checks.

A listing on the Irish Stock Exchange creates the opportunity to sell the bonds in a secondary market.

The bond is not covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) and as such capital is at risk and investors may not receive back the full amount of their investment.

Smith concluded: "We have designed the bond to offer investors excellent returns with the transparency and peace of mind that comes from an asset-backed and listed product. All investments are overseen by a credit committee with over 100 years experience."
