NATIONWIDE FRAMEWORK SUPPORTS INSTALLATION OF RENEWABLE HEATING SYSTEMS IN SOCIAL HOUSING

Calls for more housing to be constructed is ever prevalent in today's society and, with the recent release of the Government's Clean Energy Growth Plan, the need for our future housing to be sustainable has never been more apparent.

With this in mind, NIBE Energy Systems is proud to have become a supplier to Procure Plus, a nationwide framework which provides a centralised procurement system relating to social housing and now supports the installation of ground source heat pump systems in homes across the UK.

"We are pleased to be part of the Re:allies partnership which is a first line procurement service for social housing and housing association properties delivering greater buying power and access to a wider product range," commented Robin Adderley sales director NIBE Energy Systems. "As renewable energy systems become more in demand, both as a responsibility for landlords to improve energy efficiency and for residents to reap the benefits of lower energy bills and reduce their personal carbon footprints, making the sourcing of such systems easier can only pay dividends for all."

In support of the recent Clean Energy Growth Plan released by the Government NIBE would like to see all fuel poor homes to be upgraded to Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) Band C by 2030 and our aspiration is for as many homes as possible to be EPC Band by 2035 where practical, cost effective and affordable. In addition, the Government will also look at how social housing can meet similar standards on the same timetable.

"Giving owners and landlords of new build homes or retro fit projects the choice to make these informed decisions is essential and Re:allies will help to unlock the options and opportunities available to futureproof our homes," said Robin. "Coupled with the efficient procurement offered by the framework it is clear that sourcing heat pumps for renewable heating systems has become much more straightforward, allowing landlords, housebuilders and construction companies to source products from just one central platform."

David Kemp, responsible for sustainability and growth at Procure Plus commented; "Such framework agreements unlock opportunities for Re:allies members and their customers to access goods and services safe in the knowledge that they have been procured in a best practice manner and in a cost effective way thanks to aggregated demand. In addition to the economic benefits delivered to our customers, there is also the opportunity for our members to drive forward apprenticeships and work placements through the social value work we support and deliver, all funded by our collaborative procurement activity. The Re:allies model of socio-economic impact is recognised as outstanding and transformational by Government and stakeholder organisations. In 2017 we were one of the first recipients of the Queen's Award for Enterprise in the Promoting Opportunity category."

Access to the framework is available for members and customers of Procure Plus and also members of Re:allies and their clients. Businesses are able to become part of the framework through a competitive, OJEU and Public Procurement Regulations 2015 compliant tendering process.
