Howards, a progressive firm of chartered certified accountants in Stafford, has seen its reputation for embracing change to deliver high-quality solutions and services reinforced in recent months with recognition in two prestigious business awards, the development of an extensive social media strategy and enhancements to its popular app.

Howards has been shortlisted in the final three of the Small Business of the Year category in the 2017 West Midlands Finance Awards. This fantastic achievement comes hot on the heels of the company being commended in the same category in this year's Staffordshire Chamber of Commerce Business Awards. At the same time, Howards has ramped up its activity on social media where its products and services have been generating a huge amount of interest.

The Howards app, which provides businesses and individuals with instant access to the most up-to-date accountancy facts, dates and calculators, has been designed so that it is updated automatically when the Budget is announced to reflect any changes in taxation rates, earnings thresholds and other changes made by the Treasury.

Now operating at record staff levels, Howards has grown to meet the ever-increasing demands of its customer base for a flexible service that simplifies complex issues such as workers' pensions auto enrolment and flat rate VAT changes for small businesses. Companies are also looking for professional help on how to deal with recent changes to the dividend tax system and the overhaul of generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) in the UK.

Rebecca Nott, Senior Manager at Howards, says: "The accountancy industry is highly competitive so it is incredibly important to remain several steps ahead of the competition. We do this by not only embracing change and the very latest technology but also by having a highly proactive approach to customer service delivered by a young, dynamic team that is always looking at how to do things better."

Howards' Managing Director Matt Bailey adds: "We have moved on enormously in the last two years and are proud to have been recognised in some of the most prestigious business awards in the sector and in the Midlands region. But we haven't stopped there and it is down to the efforts of our fantastic team that the future is looking very bright indeed."

About Howards

Howards was founded in 2005 following the merger of Barrington's and Wood & Co, two well-established and successful Stafford firms of accountants. The combined experience and areas of individual expertise that the company now enjoys has been passed on to its clients, who all benefit from Howards' deeper knowledge base and wider range of professional services. As well as Managing Director Matt Bailey, the senior team at Howards consists of commercial and taxation specialist Ryan Hudson, audit expert Rebecca Nott - who has been with the firm for over 13 years - and Nick Archer, who specialises in client services and business development.
