A specialist manufacturer of wheels and castors is set to improve business performance after partnering with a local independent software company to invest in a new, purpose-designed IT system.

Rugeley-based Injectaplas opted for a bespoke CRM, order tracking and invoicing system built by DBLogic (DBL) in 2006.Now, the company's IT partnerhas delivered the next generation system, which is designed to help Injectaplas grow volumes as it continues to build its business across thefood, retail, furniture and transport sectors.

With improved control over order processing, stock control and materials purchasing, which helped to deliver key efficiencies, Injectaplas saw turnover double between 2006 and 2010. The software also supported growth by enabling managers to focus less on the day-to-day operation and more on business planning.

Chris Whelan, managing director of Injectaplas, says: "With the original IT system DBL helped us take our business to the next stage in its development by providing control, communication and documentation. We were able to get a grip on business performance and, as a result, were more confident of meeting customer expectations.

"The new system builds on this, taking account of how our business has evolved since 2006 so that it not only meets our requirements today, but also provides a solid foundation for future development."

For an SME with a process that works well and limited time to adopt and implement a new IT system, DBL says custom software is the most cost-effective solution. As well as providing a structure and process flow, the inherent flexibility of the system the company created for Injectaplas meant that employees were still able to make key decisions such as determining when to put particular lines into production.

Dave Barrett, managing director at DBL, says: "Ongoing additions and improvements since the initial system went live have enabled Injectaplas to continue to reap key benefits in the face of changing customer requirements. However, as operating systems and user interfaces have evolved, it was clear that the base technology employed would eventually limit what the business could achieve.

"Our overriding aim was to deliver a solution that is a perfect fit for the business. As well as enhancing workflow, one of the key benefits of the new IT system is that less technically minded staff can use it with minimal training requirements."

Established in 1989,Injectaplas specialises inwheels and castors that can carry loads ranging from 15kg to 12 tonnes. All products are manufactured at its Station Road premises.
