NewVIc's Annual Awards recognising outstanding achievement

 

NewVic, London's largest sixth form college awarded students for their academic and personal achievements. Award winners, proud parents and teachers as well NewVIc governors came together to make this prestigious annual event very special.

 

In total 42 students were presented with Prize Giving Awards by corporate sponsors. These industry and university partners include Birkbeck University of London, Brunel University London, CAE Technology , Caterlink, CPB Projects, Enterprise Support Services, London Metropolitan University, London South Bank University, Shepheard Epstein Hunter, the Office Providers, UAL, UEL and Woodland Corporate interior.

 

Julian Ojogwu 19, from Canning Town, was presented a CAE Technology Award for his achievements in Live Performance. His hard work earned him an inspiring distinction at diploma level for his visual project ‘The island of East London' and is now a burgeoning singer - songwriter, he has performed at venues including Becton Globe and Stratford Circus.

 

Other students include Asim Zubair Bawa, 18, East Ham, who was presented a CPB Projects award for his Fine Art and Graphics course, his personal progress and his unique portfolio using techniques and materials independently. Jovita Sabaityte, 19, Barking, who is a carer for her family was presented the Enterprise Support Services UK Limited, for her determination and hard work to achieve an A in Childcare, her role as a student councillor, her success on her college placement and offer of paid work.

Principal awards

 

This year has seen NewVIc students achieve their best results with the vast majority progressing to the degree courses and universities of their choice.Former student Mughees Hassan, 18, East Ham, received the NewVIc Principal's Awards for the highest grades, he is currently studying Natural Sciences at Cambridge University.

 

Principal Eddie Playfair said ‘' We thank our teachers, sponsors and partners, because without them it would not be possible to create so many awards, being part of these annual awards makes me feel extremely proud. These students will now build on their NewVIc successes as they continue to work towards their career ambitions''
