Securus Communications is chosen as a select broadband supplier for the Westminster Connect Scheme

Securus Communications has recently announced that they have been selected as one of around 80 suppliers for the Connect Westminster Scheme. This is a £2.8 million ERDF project that seeks to help SMEs within Westminster and the West End Partnership area to get connected to gigabit capable broadband.

Securus will be working in partnership with Westminster City Council, enabling SMEs, particularly in the retail, hospitality and leisure trade in these allocated areas, to access faster, more reliable broadband. Local businesses can apply for a grant of up to £2,000 to upgrade to an Ultrafast connection. The technology installed by all suppliers has to be capable of being configured to deliver 1Gbps. This will allow businesses to:

  • Grow and access new markets through better communication with customers and suppliers

  • Improve security measures through fast, secure data backup

  • Increase productivity, whilst attracting and retaining the best staff

  • Improve customer service by sending or uploading large files quickly and reliably

  • Increase their bottom line by improving customer satisfaction ratings

  • Future proof their business to equip them with the digital challenges of tomorrow

Brett Rowe, Managing Director of Securus Communications, commented,

"Securus is keen to ensure that Britain is at the forefront of communications globally and, with the Government backing this same stance, we are delighted to have been chosen as a supplier for the Connect Westminster scheme.  We aim to bring high speed fibre to more retail and hospitality businesses in the Westminster district and we'll be targeting those areas heavily to ensure that all businesses have a chance to take advantage of the plan.We are proud to be working in partnership with Westminster City Council to make Westminster one of the best places in the UK to start and grow a business."

The Connect Westminster scheme launched on 24thAugust 2017 and will run to the end of 31stMarch 2019, or until the £2.5 million Government funding has been issued.
