Drive DeVilbiss wins support surfaces contract from Herts Community NHS Trust

DRIVE DEVILBISS WINS SUPPORT SURFACES CONTRACT FROM HERTFORDSHIRE COMMUNITY NHS TRUST

Healthcare specialists Drive DeVilbiss have won a three year extension to their existing contract to supply dynamic support surfaces to Hertfordshire Community NHS Trust. The company will continue to provide its Phase III and Elite mattresses to a total of eight community hospitals in Hertfordshire, achieving a four hour response service to match identified needs.

Drive DeVilbiss products are designed around enhancing the patient experience, and the company has supplied support surfaces to Hertfordshire on a rental basis for several years. When the contract came up for renewal, the company successfully won an extension through a framework agreement negotiated by group purchasing specialists Health Trust Europe, recognising the consistent levels of product and clinical support provided by Drive DeVilbiss.

Calling for anything from 10 to 50 installs per day, all of which are completed within four hours of the original request, the contract covers dynamic pressure relieving products and includes delivery, installation, uplift and decontamination services.

With the focus on constant improvements in quality of care, Hertfordshire's community hospitals use the Drive DeVilbiss Phase III dynamic mattresses designed to deliver enhanced patient care for individuals up to Very High Risk of developing pressure ulcers as defined by EPUAP and NICE guidelines. Internal cell pressures adjust automatically within the chosen morphology and a 10 minute start-up static mode enables the carer to position the individual on the support surface. The Phase III surfaces can accommodate patients weighing up to 250kgs (39 stone).

The hospitals are also using the Drive DeVilbiss Elite mattresses. For added peace of mind, the Elite mattress features a fully encased foam base layer to ensure the individual is given support in the event of a power failure. The support surface also accommodates those at Very High Risk of developing pressure ulcers, with a patient weight limit of 159kgs (25 stone).

"HCT have used Drive DeVilbiss (formerly Park House) as our sole supplier of pressure area care rental products for a number of years, renewing our contract with them twice. During this time they have delivered significant savings, using technology and close management of our account to reduce the number of unnecessary and extended hires, most recently rolling out RFID tagging of product to reduce the paperwork associated with rentals management, thereby increasing the patient facing time available to staff in our bed bases."
