Bringing the best of contemporary Cornish painting to the South East, West Cornwall based artist Trudy Montgomery will be exhibiting new work at Josie Eastwood Fine Art, Stockbridge, Hampshire from 11 - 28 November 2017.

Montgomery's work, which has so far been exhibited in London, Dubai, Los Angeles and Berlin, is part of a continuation of British Abstract Expressionist painting which has its roots in the internationally celebrated work of Cornish artists such as Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon. Demonstrating the artist's intuitive use of colour and gestural mark, these works combine the principals of abstraction with aspects of landscape, in paintings of extraordinary vigour and creative confidence.

Recently returned to the UK after fourteen years in California, Montgomery's spacious, brightly coloured canvases are inspired by the vivid beauty and pure light of both the Californian and Cornish coast, as well as the free expression of the subjective self, and will be on show as part of gallerist Josie Eastwood's early winter exhibition of contemporary painting.

See Trudy Montgomery's work on show from 11 - 28 November 2017 at Josie Eastwood Fine Art, Longstock, Stockbridge, Hampshire, SO20 6DR and at www.josieeastwood.com. For more information on Trudy's work see www.trudymontgomery.com

Editors Notes

Trudy Montgomery

Trudy Montgomery is one of the next generation of artists in Cornwall whose work is part of a direct line of British expressionist painting which has its roots in the ground-breaking abstraction of artists such as Patrick Heron and Peter Lanyon. Recently returned to the UK after fourteen years in California, she now lives and works in an idyllic corner of West Cornwall. Her tendency towards pure, bold colour on an immersive scale is influenced by the light and space of both the Californian and Cornish coast and the artist's own spiritual landscape. Her work has been exhibited in London, Dubai, Los Angeles and Berlin.

Josie Eastwood Fine Art

Josie Eastwood Fine Art has a different formula to most galleries, holding four annual exhibitions in the owners' private home and in the gallery, with the intention of showing contemporary fine art in a relaxed environment. Josie Eastwood graduated in Fine Art from Exeter University and worked within the British Paintings department at Sotheby's and at Julian Hartnoll, the highly respected Pre-Raphelite dealer. She went on to manage the Cadogan Gallery in Chelsea in the early 1990s when it was jointly owned by Philip Mould and Christopher Burness, and worked at the fine art consultancy Project Art. Josie Eastwood Fine Art was established in 1996.
