The final countdown to Talent in Logistics 2017

With Talent in Logistics 2017 just three weeks away, transport, warehousing and logistics professionals have more to look forward to than ever before. A conference of 18 free CPD sessions, a celebratory awards evening and the International Forklift Operator and Instructor live competitions all take place on 22nd June 2017 in Telford, West Midlands.

GET INFORMATION FROM THE EXPERTS
The Talent in Logistics Conference and Information Zone focuses on the key issues currently facing learning and development professionals in logistics. It provides a relevant professional development opportunity as well as a wealth of useful information and plenty of top tips to take back to the business.

Speakers are confirmed from CIPD, Cranfield University, National Counter Terrorism Policing Headquarters, Health & Safety Executive, Mentor FLT Training, the National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI), Doosan Industrial Vehicle UK, and charities Mind, Brake and Transaid. Sessions will address varied topics from “Making strategic L&D work in practice,” to “How distracted are your drivers?”, and ‘Mental Health is Everyone’s Business?’ through to ‘Preventing Lorry Related Terrorism’.  All seminars are completely free to attend, and CILT (UK) has awarded this event 3 CPD hours.

The Information Zone at the event not only will provide a fantastic networking opportunity, but also give visitors a chance to talk directly to industry experts about key issues in the sector, such as training procurement and the apprenticeship levy. Exhibitors include the National Register of LGV Instructors (NRI), Driving Test Success, the RTITB Instructor Academy, Think Logistics, and Brake.

ENJOY LIVE COMPETITIONS
Visitors to the Talent in Logistics Conference will also have chance to enjoy all the live action of the International Forklift Operator of the Year Grand Finals, partnered with UniCarriers and McCue, and featuring tests sponsored by Pyroban and Transaid.  Taking place at RTITB Headquarters in Telford, the contest will see 12 top forklift drivers completing various live action-packed challenges, designed to test their practical skill and knowledge of theory, in front of an audience.  Those taking part include the youngest ever contestant, the first female finalists and the reigning Forklift Operator of the Year India.

At the same time, some of the country’s best forklift instructors will be battling it out in a bid to win the Lift Truck Instructor of the Year contest, sponsored by Doosan Industrial Vehicle UK.  During the competition, which celebrates excellence in training and instruction, 10 finalists will deliver a training lesson to an expert judge who will assess their skills.

AWARDS CELEBRATE EXCELLENCE
The Talent in Logistics Awards will celebrate the unique skills and achievements of the people that are key to training, developing and inspiring the transport and logistics sector.  Taking place over a gourmet three-course dinner at the Telford International Centre, special guest Tim Vine, stand-up comedian and star of BBC sitcom ‘Not Going Out’, will present the Awards.

Winners have been selected by a group of industry experts, including event media partners SHD Logistics, Transport Operator, Health and Safety at Work and Training Journal, and representatives from highly respected industry associations CILT (Chartered Institute of Logistics and Transport), RHA (Road Haulage Association), Women in Logistics, and FLTA (Fork Lift Truck Association). The eagerly expectant finalists include those from John Lewis Partnership, Goldstar Transport Ltd, Tesco, Travis Perkins and Wilko Retail. The full list of finalists can be found at: www.talentinlogistics.co.uk/finalists/

As well as recognising the talent and achievements within the logistics and transport industry, the Awards will provide a chance for guests to socialise and network with their peers, suppliers and potential customers.  Employers can attend the Awards with their teams or customers to demonstrate their commitment to the development and retention of logistics talent, and to celebrate with their valued people.
