Airport runway t-shirts - original designs from the T-lab creative team.

Hi there,

I'd like to introducewww.t-lab.eufor your spring, summer and fathers's day features.

We're a small British brand who design and produce screen printed t-shirts for men and women looking for clothing that is distinctive and contemporary.

Our shirts feature the bold use of shape and colour with a minimalist less-is-more attitude. We take inspiration from art, design, sport and popular culture, and a lateral look at our subjects to create original designs with a graphic twist.

For travel editors we have two designs based on airport runways - more below...

Hope you enjoy looking and reading about them. Please get in touch for more images, back stories and samples.

Best wishes,
Denise

For travel lovers -

FCO

We like airports at T-lab. And when seen from the air, airports take on their own identities. Built on a huge scale the swooping curves and long, straight runways create abstract and intricate patterns.

Travellers will be familiar with FCO as the IATA code forFiumicino - Aeroporto Internazionale Leonardo da Vinci. Sitting 22 miles from the centre of Rome, it's Italy's largest airport and the sixth busiest in Europe, transporting over 37 million passengers every year.

MIA

Or if your route is out west here's MIA - we like airports at T-lab. Yes, they can be busy and overfilled with shops, but there's always a sense of excitement and faraway places.

MIA is the call sign for Miami International, the second largest airport in the US. Gateway to all the glitz and glamour that Miami has to offer, it handles over 38 million passengers every year.

Background
We're a small team and as designers enjoy looking for a creative way to express ourselves. T-shirts, with their history of youthful, easy-going style are a great way to do that.

Our shirts are designed in Rutland and screen printed in Nottingham. Since starting T-lab, we've seen our designs featured in magazines and website in many different countries, and sell shirts to men and women worldwide.

We chose the name T-lab because the whole project was an experiment, creating a design approach that was different to anything else. Our aim for the future is to create an ever-improving range of designs, all held together by our distinctive design approach of lateral thinking and sharp styling.

More about airports

When seen from the air, airports take on new identities. The queues and carousels are replaced by a carefully engineered transport network - roads into car parks, car parks to terminals, terminals to departure gates.

But its the runways that really catch the eye. Built on a huge scale, the swooping curves and long runway straights, interspersed with myriad connecting lanes create abstract and surprisingly delicate patterns, at odds with their vastness.

It was this combination of power and pattern that we wanted to put onto our shirts. The design is semi-abstract, and like many of our designs, it isn't immediately apparent what the shirt is about. We like that, so long as it looks good.
