Hashtag Press acquires relationship self-help book ‘The MANScript'

The MANScript is the ultimate guide to surviving and thriving, during and after, experiencing infidelity by Julia Keys (wife of sports presenter Richard Keys) and her best friend Jacqui Coles. ThereISa script to infidelity, it's repeated time and time again, and this book will help you identify the MANScript...and more. This is NOT a man-bashing book, instead the aim is to help those who have been cheated on learn how to feelempoweredrather thanweakenedby their experiences. Both Julia and Jacqui have written this essential self-help book from their personal and professional experiences in counselling, nursing and psychotherapy.

The MANScript will help you navigate the tumultuous times to come out stronger and happier. It covers the entire infidelity spectrum; beginning with a guide to the key ‘scripts' men use when engaged in an affair; providing advice on how to deal with the discovery of an affair; and culminates in advising women about how they can move on after an affair (either in the relationship or separated). Following years of research, the authors have discovered that it's not just women who want to read this book! It helps men who use the script to understand their behaviour and why they use the typical scripts they tell themselves, as well as their wives, families, friends, colleagues and other women. The easy-to-read, often humorous, always on point book, also provides a typical Reconciliation Script that can be used when the couple wish to remain together. Ultimately, this a powerful book that will inform, empower, inspire and support women...

  • What are the most common excuses after discovering someone is having an affair? The MANScript includes a selection of ‘jaw dropping' real life quotations from who have had cheated on their wives.

About the authors

Julia Keys and Jacqui Coles are the co-founders of and They first became friends as teenagers, and although their lives took separate paths with differing experiences, fate always brought them together again. Frequently, those reunions occurred in the most unexpected of places and always at a time when one of them was struggling with an issue in their life. *  Registered Nurse

* Member of the British Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy

* BACP Masters qualification from the National Centre for Eating Disorders, BPS.

Julia has an extensive background in nursing, counselling and psychotherapy. Her specialist subjects are relationships, mental health issues and eating disorders. Julia was a school counsellor for five years, helping 11 to 18-year-old girls, many of which had problems related to their parent's relationship issues. Julia is skilled in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults. She has also worked at a specialist woman's centre where referrals came from all walks of life.

Together with Jacqui, Julia works to help people with relationship issues. Julia's aim has always been to enable people to move on with their lives in a positive manner. All too often she has seen the devastating impact that ill health, loss, betrayal and other events can have on a person's self-esteem. Supporting women, men and families at a time of crisis has been paramount to Julia's work. During the years, Julia has sat with many women whose self-esteem has suffered and a relationship was always at the core of the issue. Julia firmly believes that the most important relationship we have in life is the one we develop with ourselves. Julia has lived most of her married life to television presenter Richard Keys in the public eye and has dealt with many personal crises in the gaze of the newspapers and media. She knows all too well how hard it can be to present yourself externally to the world, while struggling immensely, internally. She also knows how frightening and lonely it can feel when you have been betrayed.

*  Specialist Community Public Health Nurse; HV

*  Registered Nurse

*  Registered Midwife.

Jacqui is a registered nurse, midwife and health visitor. She has extensive experience in safeguarding; patient safety; and as an advocate working in the NHS as a senior manager. In 2014, she became Deputy Chief Executive at the Patients Association, a high profile ‘patient voice' charity.

Jacqui has dealt with many situations where the client's personal relationship had been strained, broken down or challenged. That experience influenced the individual's physical and mental wellbeing and ultimately, their recovery.

While working at the Patients Association, Jacqui acted as an advocate for people when things had gone wrong during a patient's care. Many of those people did not know who to trust, which often resulted in high levels of stress, leading to serious health issues and crippling low self-esteem. Jacqui understands that if you feel alone and lack confidence, it can adversely affect the life decisions you make. Jacqui has published reports into the failings of the health service and has written many patient stories. She is passionate about supporting women to be the best they can be and above all, to make sure they know where to turn for help. She wants women to talk about their experiences, support each other and to no longer suffer in silence.

Abiola Bello, co-founder of Hashtag Press, says: "I read the MANScript in one go. I loved the raw honesty from Julia and Jacqueline, as well as the testimonials. It's such a relatable book yet so insightful. I found myself thinking of past relationships and saying, ‘Ah that's the script right there!' It's a book that's going to provide a lot of strength to those that have been cheated on and frankly it's a book everyone should read!"

Helen Lewis, co-founder of Hashtag Press, says:"We all know someone who has been cheated on and most of us women know what it's like to be chatted up by a guy clearly trying his luck while he's ‘out of town on business'. It's not just about recognising the script but learning the tools to identify it and tackle it. If it's happening to us, if our partner is the one using the MANScript, this book will guide us through the whole infidelity spectrum at a time when you could feel the loneliest you've ever felt. My favourite part of this book is the reconciliation script, because I agree with the authors, there is not one set rule to deal with infidelity. But ultimately, the strength of this book is the strength it can give to women...because empowered women make much better decisions."

Julia Keys says:"Unless you understand and address the emotions you are feeling you cannot truly make decisions that are going to be the best for you.  We take you from a place of ‘how could he?' to a place of ‘how dare he?'"

Jacqui Coles says: "Blaming and shaming is part of the script. Don't let yourself be manscripted but read our book and know you are not alone."
