SYSTRA Appointment


Tony Kearns has joined SYSTRA from WSP as Operations Director for the Northern Europe region.

Tony takes on a dual role of Regional Operations Director – Northern Europe and Operations Director – UK Engineering. He will lead a number of functions, including Operations, Technical & Engineering, Project Controls, Project Staffing, and Health, Safety & Security.

With over 25 years’ experience in the rail industry, Tony has spent much of his career leading and developing businesses and brings significant experience in client, consulting and contracting environments. Tony is a qualified member of The Institute of Directors (MIoD).

Tony joins SYSTRA from WSP where he worked for almost five years, first as Strategy and Operations Director, Rail, Transit & Aviation with Parsons Brinckerhoff, and following its acquisition by WSP, as Operations Director, Rail & Transit. Prior to this he was at AECOM for almost three years, first as Heavy Rail Sector Director, Transportation, then as Deputy Rail Sector Director, Transportation. Tony led his own rail engineering business for 12 years which he sold to AECOM when he joined the company in 2010. He began his career at British Rail.

Commenting on Tony’s appointment, SYSTRA Senior Vice President of Northern Europe Pascal Mercier said: “SYSTRA’s Northern Europe region has grown rapidly over the past few years and we have won a number of major engineering design contracts. Tony’s arrival will help support our focus on project delivery, technical excellence and safety, whilst enabling local business units to maintain their client focus. I wish him all the best in his new role.”

Tony will be based in SYSTRA’s London office.
