Ho Ho Ho - away we go, Santa rides into town

Local 6 year olds Eva Jarvie and Ross Morrice were the luckiest kids in Kilmarnock on Sunday. The youngsters were specially picked by Town Centre Manager Fiona Nicolson, after being nominated by their mums in response to a video posted by Santa on the Kilmarnock Town Centre Facebook page. They had the ride of a lifetime, with Santa in his sleigh, along King Street as he and his reindeer took a break from their pre-Christmas training schedule to visit Kilmarnock and meet all the good boys and girls before he visits their houses later this month.

Centrestage added their own touch of magic, giving Santa a rousing welcome before they led him down the street, accompanied by a host of winter wonder characters.

Then it was time for the reindeer to rest in their special pen at the Cross while Santa took to the Burns Mall to meet children and collect their special Santa letters.

Town Centre Manager, Fiona Nicolson, who arranged the event said: "We're thrilled that Santa once again decided to use Kilmarnock as a rest point for his reindeer as they get fit for their epic run on 25 December. He told me that he loves coming to Kilmarnock because he always gets such a warm welcome and he loves meeting the boys and girls while they're awake!

"As ever we had a great turn out of happy shoppers and families, for the traders, the support of people shopping local is vitally important, and events like that on Sunday make the experience of shopping in Kilmarnock a whole lot of fun."
