Flood management in Cardiff
How Cardiff Council and partners respond to the risk of flooding is to be discussed at tomorrow’s meeting of the Environmental Scrutiny Committee.

Members will have the opportunity to review roles and responsibilities established in the Local Flood Risk Management Strategy which was adopted in September 2014.

Cardiff Council as Lead Local Flood Authority works alongside key partners Welsh Water, the Natural Resources Wales and the Internal Drainage Board to prevent and prepare for flooding.

Chair of the Environmental Scrutiny Committee, Cllr Ramesh Patel said: “It is crucially important that we have stringent plans in place to reduce the risk of flooding as the consequences otherwise can obviously be devastating for residents and local businesses. As a result of the Flood and Water Management Act 2010 the Council and statutory partners have put in a lot of hard work to reduce the risk of flooding in Cardiff, but the role now for my Committee is to review these measures and to ensure that they’re fit for purpose.”

Tomorrow’s meeting is at 4:30pm and will be webcast live here: https://cardiff.public-i.tv/core/portal/webcast_interactive/321648
