DAVID LOCK ASSOCIATES IN SEARCH FOR CHILD TO MAKE MK50 HISTORY

Did you know, that over the last 50 years, over 22 million trees have been planted in the new city of Milton Keynes?  This year, to celebrate Milton Keynes' 50thBirthday, David Lock Associates (DLA) have launched the websitemk50trees.comwhich showcases 49 trees in the borough which are personally important to people who work at DLA. Today DLA are delighted to launch a competition to find a school-age child to plant the all-important 50thtree to mark MKs 50thyear.

DLA successfully launched the website to showcase the City's trees and landscape earlier this year, which gives visitors the chance to vote for the tree that will be planted in December.  Partner at DLA Simon Collier said: "We have been overwhelmed at the number of visits tomk50trees.com, and by the number of people that have taken the time to vote for their favourite.  We're excited to be a part of this historical year for Milton Keynes, and to invite a child to have their name as part of the future of the city's green space."

Details of the competition can be found atmk50trees.comand on the MK50 Trees Facebook page. To be in with a chance of winning, children need to wow us with their artwork of a tree in Milton Keynes.  Drawing, painting, collage...anything - let your creativity flow!  Parents can enter their child's work by email tomk50trees@davidlock.com, or via social media. Entries must be received by midnight on 3rdDecemberand full terms and conditions can be found online atmk50trees.com

The lucky child who wins will be invited to plant the 50th tree with David Lock Associates and Places for People (developers of Brooklands), at an event on 11thDecember.  The tree planting will take place at Broughton Brook Linear Park, Brooklands in the presence of the Mayor of Milton Keynes, Cllr David Hopkins, who said: "It's been a thrill to see so many innovative activities taking place to celebrate MK50 - the MK50 Trees project in particularly exciting and I'm looking forward to meeting the lucky winner at the tree planting."
