The greetings card is as obsolete as the telegram. Right? Well, actually, wrong!

In the UK this year the British public are expected to spend over £384 million on Christmas Cards.

Now a new player has entered the greetings card market, in spite of the trend towards sending festive, birthday and other special occasion messages online or by SMS.

Choosey, an online retailer of video greetings cards, have harnessed tradition with digital technology bylaunching printed Christmasand other special occasion cards with personalised videos that can be completed in just a couple of clicks.

Adding videos to aChooseycard is made possible via the innovative use of augmented reality (AR) technologyenabling the sender to upload a video message which can be viewed via the recipient's smartphone or tablet.

Senderscan upload a different video to each card, making the experience truly special or, alternatively, send the same video to everyone. Videosare recorded on theChooseyapp itself, or uploaded from a camera roll on a mobile device. When the card is received, it includes a printed QR code, which plays the video when scanned with a smartphone or tablet. All that is needed is for all parties to download theChooseyApp via Google Play or the Apple Store.

[image]CEO Ben Nolan's vision for Choosey was to take a traditional product and enhance it for 21st century audiences. He says, "Chooseyhas turned receiving a card into an experience and taken sending physical greetings to the next level. Video conveys laughter, emotion, and tells a story.

"The physical card is still prized over virtual ‘e-cards', but brought bang up to date with the benefits of digital technology. The industry has been slow to change since Victorian times, precisely because the draw of an actual card is too powerful to abandon. We have combined these two worlds."

Choosey's Christmas multipacks come in a pack of 10 (priced at £13.99), and feature 5 different designs from some of the most innovative independent designers in the UK.

"The only tradition we're interested in is the fact that people still like to send physical greetings to each other, whether it's a card, postcard or invitation.  OtherwiseChooseyis here to break tradition and create a new emotional connection between people. We want to make sending cards fun again," Nolan adds.

Chooseygreetings cards not only provide innovative options for all important occasions like Valentine's and Mother's Day, but pave the way for long-distance proposals, surprise baby announcements, and even seductions!

Creating aChooseyoffers template video cards for all occasions. They can be customised with words in any chosen font, clip art and emojis. The card creation process then guides the customer through uploading a video and offers prompts until the card is completed. The recipient can then open their card and access the video via the Choosey App, to be viewed as often as they wish.Chooseylaunched in the USA in April 2017 with additional ranges of cards for the $7 billion US market.

Choosey is part of theEvode Group- an environmentally conscious London-based internet start-up aiming to disrupt the wholesale model where consumers have long since suffered a lack of choice at the hands of traditional wholesale companies. TheEvode Groupalso owns theMerchmakerbrand, a fan orientated platform offering customisable merchandise for some of the world's biggest brands (Including Liverpool FC, WWE, Star Trek, Power Rangers, Thunderbirds Are Go and many others).
