Cyber security firm signs deal with best in class data discovery vendor

Cyber security company Foregenix has strengthened its compliance services in a new deal with data discovery specialists Groundlabs.

The new collaboration will enhance Foregenix’s ability to meet the requirements of organisations to locate a diverse range of Personally Identifiable Information (PII), which is now a prime target for cyber criminals.

Groundlabs’ security software finds sensitive PII by searching for specific data formats such 16-digit credit card numbers which may be stored in numerous locations across an extended organisation. Once discovered action can be taken by the client to safeguard it or remove it altogether.

Groundlabs’ flagship Enterprise Recon solution scans over 140 data types across 7 platforms to ensure compliance with new privacy regulations such as the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), which comes into force in May.

The Groundlabs’ solutions replace Foregenix’s FScout card scanning product. Richard Jones, Foregenix’s business development manager for strategic partners comments: “FScout served clients well, but customer requirements are changing to locate a much broader range of data assets than covered by PCI DSS. Groundlabs’ solutions meet the new compliance challenges organisations face.” *

“While its early days for some companies preparing for GDPR, our experience shows it pays to know at the start of a compliance project what PII there is and where it’s located. It can prove a real challenge for many businesses to find material they didn’t know they had across multiple locations.”

Foregenix, which develops in-house cyber security solutions, will offer Groundlabs’ solutions and its supporting compliance services to its global client base from September. In addition to its UK headquarters, Foregenix has overseas offices in Germany, Uruguay, South Africa, Australia and the United States.

John Cassidy, VP at Groundlabs comments: “Foregenix has a strong understanding of how to deliver compliance for privacy and data security. The global reach of its support services provides a great fit with our technology, which is already used for PCI DSS and GDPR projects.

Foregenix’s chief commercial officer Benjamin Hosack adds: “Groundlabs offers best in classsolutions that improve our current capabilities as well as complement our leading cyber security software such as Serengeti and FGX-Web which detect cyber security threats enabling rapid incident response.

“Organisations simply cannot afford to be reckless with the PII they hold. They need to get their data compliance in place, especially as GDPR is coming in and fines could run into the millions for those that don’t take adequate precautions.”

“With Groundlabs’ solutions our threat intelligence teams can eliminate the opportunity for hackers to misuse valuable PII.”
