Grenfell: CNWL at Notting Hill Carnival

CNWL staff delivered mental health information and advice to more than 700 people affected by the Grenfell Tower fire during the Notting Hill Carnival.

They met with 717 local residents over the two days, handing out information about CNWL's services to people affected by Grenfell including crisis cards, condoms and stress balls to promote the Single Point of Access, which people concerned about emotional wellbeing can call on 0800 0234 650.

More than 70 staff took part and wore bright orange NHS T-Shirts to stand out from the crowd as well as green wristbands to show solidarity with Grenfell.

The T-Shirts advertised Health and Wellbeing Support #grenfellNHS.

The team, which included consultants, nurses, and occupational therapists, was based near the Oremi Centre in Trellick Tower, and the Grove Centre in St Marks Road.

They were split into groups of two to three so they could engage with the community around the tower and along the carnival route.

The sites provided a safe location for staff to reach out from and also for individuals who needed it, to be seen in a safe space.

A carnival float also advertised our pop-up clinics and how people could get in touch.

CNWL Chief Executive Claire Murdoch said: "Our staff were brilliant in their enthusiasm and sensitivity.

"I'm really proud of the team - they pounded the streets and saw hundreds of people throughout carnival - really helpful and really helpful service."
