Bradford garden centre staff to take part in treadmill challenge

With just over a week to go before their sponsored 18k walk, a group of charity walkers from a Bradford garden centre is keeping on track with the help of a weekend treadmill fundraiser.

This weekend, members of the team at Tong Garden Centre are coming together to show their support for the 11 walkers and the centre's charity of the year, The Cellar Trust, by joining in a 36k treadmill challenge.

Between 10am and 3pm on Saturday and Sunday participants will be walking on a treadmill positioned at the exit of the store, marketing assistant Pete Casci, also one of those taking part in the Lakes walk, said.

"We think it's great that everyone is getting involved in this fundraiser which we're hoping will raise awareness of our sponsored walk to raise valuable funds for our charity of the year, The Cellar Trust."

"Everyone has a positive attitude towards completing the walk and with just a matter of days to go until the event, it would be great if our shoppers could encourage us on the treadmill and make a donation in the Cellar Trust buckets, because it all goes towards a magnificent cause."

This Saturday marks a week before the 18k walk aroundLake Ullswater in the Lake District on September 2.

Pete will be walking withKatie Young, Lee Parnham, Claire Spencer, Catherine Westmoreland, Jemma Jones, Sharon McNair, Diane Farrar, Janice Astbury, Phil Hemmings and Chris Hope.

Their target is to raise at least £2,000 for the benefit of Shipley charity The Cellar Trust, a mental health support charity operating in the area.

The charity works with those affected by mental health primarily in theBradford, Airedale, Wharfedale and Craven areas to help them get back into work.
