Want to learn how to swing a golf club? Or perhaps you are a budding amateur photographer who needs some tips?

A new website launched this month aims to help absolute beginners learn new skills - with topics ranging from sports and fitness, to music, digital photography and technology.

David McSweeney, the site's co-founder, explains the concept behindNoobNorm.com.

"It's tough being a beginner. Particularly in the modern age of information overload. There's just so much content out there, that it can be difficult to find the right advice, and specifically, advice that's tailored towards the ‘noob'.

With NoobNorm our aim is to create simple, easy to follow guides for the absolute beginner. Over the coming months we will be publishing tutorials covering a range of topics, that will teach you everything you need to know to start learning a new skill."

David explains how his personal experience looking for tips to help with his golf swing inspired the site.

"I've been playing golf for a while, but really decided to get serious about a year ago. I wanted to work on building a proper swing and lowering my handicap.

So like most ‘noobs' I started scouring the web for tips. I came across a ton of information, but there was so much conflicting advice, that my many hours of research just left me even more confused about the golf swing than ever. In fact, if anything my golf started to go backwards.

Eventually however I stumbled upon the right information and started to improve.

This gave me the idea to create a site that would be focused on getting the beginner straight to the information they need to learn a new skill. We do the research so you don't have to!"

Unlike many websites which make dubious claims of authority and expertise, the NoobNorm team are up front about the fact they are not experts on every topic they cover. Indeedtheir ‘about us'page states:

"In our team we have good experience across a wide range of activities and where possible will give advice from personal experience. You'll be able to tell when that is the case.

But when we don't have first hand experience of a sport, or activity, we will do the hours of research, so you can get straight to the answer you need."

So whether your dream is to be the next Tiger Woods, or David Bailey, this new website may be able to help.
