A well-established haulage, tank and garage services business in Barry is improving its heavy lifting capabilities by investing in the latest generation of
container handling equipment.

To cope with a growing customer requirement to handle empty tanks, PM Rees has added a new SANY 8 tonne single lift empty container handler to its fleet.

The machine was supplied by Cooper Specialised Handling, which has worked closely with the family-owned and managed firm for almost a decade, providing laden and unladen reachstackers to meet the demands of increasing customer throughput.

Peter Rees, Managing Director at PM Rees, said: "We are committed to providing the very best service for our customers and investing in the latest specification heavy lifting equipment will enhance our ability to deal with the increasing volume of empty tanks passing through our facility.

"Cooper Handling has helped us achieve a solution that will boost productivity while also enabling us to realise key operational efficiencies."

PM Rees is highly experienced in national and international road haulage, including the transportation of hazardous goods, bulk liquids, powders and containers. The company also provides a comprehensive range of associated services, including isotank container washing, testing and repairs, vehicle and tanker servicing and maintenance, trailer rental and tachograph calibration and inspection.

Chris Barnes, Sales Director at Cooper Handling, said: "The addition of another empty container handler to its fleet represents an important business investment for PM Rees. We were delighted to advise on a cost-effective solution that will boost the support the company offers to customers requiring empty tank services."

PM Rees is benefiting from SANY's VALU+ package, whereby several typical options, such as tyre pressure monitoring, are included as part of the empty container handler's specification at no extra cost. Servicing and maintenance for the new machine will be provided by Cooper's team of highly skilled engineers, which is responsible for keeping the Barry company's fleet operating at peak performance.
