New book helps with separation anxiety ahead of September: I'm Going To Nursery

ADVANCE INFORMATION SHEET

I'm Going To Nursery

By Stacey Turner

[image]Separation anxiety is very common among babies and young children, but this fact alone doesn't make it easier for anyone to cope with! The good news is that it usually subsides by three years old! However, it's during this timeframe that little ones are likely to start pre-school or nursery, and it can be tough for the parentandthe child when anxiety levels are high. Of course, kids love to throw a curveball at us parents too - so all may seem fine with your childcare situation until one, random day, your angel does NOT want to leave your side but you need to get to work! It is estimated that around 4-5% of children aged 3+ experience separation anxiety. Awareness of mental ill health in children, particularly relating to anxiety, is growing. Anxiety is the fastest growing illness in under 21s and six in 10 children and young people across England do not get treatment for problems such as anxiety and depression. Stacey Turner created the My Tiny Book series to support children AND parents going through major changes. The first book launched for new-starters in September 2017 is I'm Going To Nursery. The second book, I'm Going To School, will launch in mid-2018.

Stacey Turner has written this book for all the parents out there who are gearing up to their little one starting nursery, pre-school or even school for the first time. It can be a challenging time. Even if your child shows no sign of separation anxiety they can suddenly, out of nowhere, be devastated at the idea of being left somewhere like nursery even if it is full of lovely people, children and toys! Sometimes the wobbles come later, particularly around the end of academic years when there may be new changes on the horizon (such as starting school, moving to a new part of the school or a different school). Simply put, if you have a young child, you need this book to support his or her journey as they begin and experience nursery. Having this book will enable you to talk about the fine detail your child finds in the illustrations and be guided by them.

Meet the author - Stacey Turner

[image]With a love of writing and a joy of working with children as an early years educator of over 15 years, Stacey Turner was inspired to create a book to help settle her eldest daughter into nursery during a very difficult transitioning time. Stacey is well placed to create such a book with all her years of teaching experience settling other children, so as soon as she recognised her daughter needed support, she put pen to paper and the result is what we see before us today in the hope it will help and support other children and parents. Stacey's very nurturing approach stems from a deeper understanding of the early years and how important it is to meet social and emotional needs of our children. Originally from Melbourne, Stacey lives in London and has two daughters aged five and seven. The book series, My Tiny Book, was born in June 2012 and Stacey continues to write and develop other stories which help children through various tricky stages. The stories are often inspired by her own daughters and can usually be found at the art table in her kitchen creating with her girls.

Review copies of I'm Going To Nursery are available for the press, along with pre-written editorial such as ‘10 Top Tips For Starting Nursery' (and starting school) and ‘10 Top Tips For Surviving The Summer Holidays'. Stacey is available for interview, editorial commissions and advice.
