Safe place for a cuppa and a chat

Cardiff Library Service is offering a warm welcome to its Dementia Café at Central Library Hub.

Every first and third Thursday of the month, people living with dementia, their carers and families are invited to meet at the café to enjoy a cuppa and the chance to meet with others, access information and find out about services in a sociable environment.

In partnership with theAlzheimer's Society, the Dementia Café was launched last month during Dementia Awareness Week.

Cabinet Member for Communities and Housing, Cllr Lynda Thorne, said: "We want to extend a warm welcome to our Dementia Café to anyone who would like to come along to find out more about services available to them.

"Our libraries have a role to play in the health and wellbeing agenda and as well as holding a wealth of information, libraries throughout the city host a number of activities that can improve people's moods and boost their wellbeing from singalongs to reading clubs and more.

"Cardiff libraries are helping to play a part in building a dementia-friendly society here in Cardiff to help those affected live better and more fulfilled lives so I encourage anyone interested to come along to Central Library Hub."

The Dementia Café will be open in the fourth floor meeting room at Central Library Hub next on Thursday, July 6th, 11am - 1pm.
