Newlyn Bronze Sculptor Shelley Anderson at Lighthouse Gallery

From 14^th September to 12^th October, Lighthouse Gallery will be exhibiting unique new work by Cornish master craftsman and bronze sculptor Shelley Anderson. Born and bred in the industrial fishing port of Newlyn and trained in silversmithing and metal fabrication, Anderson's extraordinary sculpture is the embodiment of Newlyn's maritime culture and prestigious metalworking heritage.

Following on from his career in sculptural jewellery and architectural pieces, he has recently embarked on the creation of large scale works, still working closely with organic shapes, textures and finishes inspired the environment of West Cornwall. Leading the exhibition will be six specially created, low relief 1.5 metre square bronze wall panels, which demonstrate Anderson innovative metalworking techniques, and which will later go on tour across the South West. Accompanying these works is a selection of beautifully crafted figurative and semi-figurative sculptures of the sea creatures which define the artist's passion for the West Cornwall landscape he was raised in.
