Final Phase Of Birmingham Office Transformation Underway

PRESS RELEASE

26 June 2017

KWB STARTS ON FINAL PHASE OF

BIRMINGHAM OFFICE BUILDING TRANSFORMATION

Birmingham independent commercial property agency KWB has started work on the final phase of the transformation of a city office building into part of Birmingham’s newest restaurant district.

Acting on behalf of the Duchy of Lancaster, KWB Property Management is managing a major refurbishment of the public areas of New Oxford House in Waterloo Street, following the opening of the Pieminister restaurant on the ground floor last month (May 2017).

KWB’s Office Agency team advised on the letting of the 2,048 sq ft of ground floor and basement space to Pieminister, and the previous letting of the adjacent 6,100 sq ft of ground floor space to Michelin starred Adam’s Restaurant.

Judith Williams, a senior member of KWB’s Property Management team, who manages New Oxford House on behalf of the Duchy of Lancaster, has overseen the building’s transformation from an office building to mixed use, with restaurants on the ground floor and basement, and its place in the heart of Birmingham’s new restaurant district.

She says: “From the time Societe Generale surrendered its lease on the ground floor of New Oxford House, we have worked hard on behalf of our client to help create an area for up-market luxury dining in Birmingham’s business and financial district.  This has come to fruition with the leases to Adams, most recently voted third best restaurant in the UK and ninth best in the word, and to award-winning pie company Pieminister.

“The culmination of this work will be the comprehensive refurbishment of the public areas of New Oxford House which will help improve the quality of the office space and make it more attractive to potential occupiers.

“Waterloo Street and Temple Street will continue to benefit from the growing demand for luxury eateries – of all shapes and sizes – to meet a wide variety of budgets and cultures.”
