June 2017 -The historic town of Tewkesbury and the surrounds is an Aladdin's Cave when it comes to history and antiques. And from June onwards, the area takes on a notable difference when locals produce and display medieval banners outside their premises in readiness for the town's annual highlight - the War of the Roses Festival. To celebrate, Tewkesbury Park, set in 163 acres and overlooking the famous site of the War of the Roses - 1471 Battle of Tewkesbury, has created a Roses Experience to celebrate the very symbol that helped put Tewkesbury on the map.

Believed to be the biggest European medieval festival,this year, the festival takes place 8th& 9thJuly '17. The highlightis a re-enactment of the Battle of Tewkesbury, which takes place on the original site of the 1471 battlefield - the lower field of Tewkesbury Park. Many of the participants including wives and children live as a medieval army in authentic medieval encampments for the whole weekend. Sudeley Castle & Gardens has played an important role in England's history for over 1,000 years. The castle is surrounded by a breathtaking 1,200-acre estate and ten gardens. The centerpiece is the Queens' Garden, so named because four of England's queens - Anne Boleyn, Katherine Parr, Lady Jane Grey and Elizabeth I - once walked upon the original Tudor Parterre. Nowadays, the garden boasts over 70 varieties of roses.
