Bangkok Lounge Shefford to host event as part of campaign to raise £5,000 for Amir Khan Foundation

Bangkok Lounge Group, the owner of fine Thai dining restaurants in Bedfordshire, is holding a fundraising event at its Shefford restaurant on 4 May.

The event is part of the group’s campaign to raise £5,000 for the Amir Khan Foundation throughout 2017.

Together with Penny Appeal, the Amir Khan Foundation is working tirelessly to ensure water-scarce communities gain reliable access to safe, clean water that can help save lives, instead of endangering them with life-threatening illnesses. Safe water allows crops to flourish, prosper and provide nutritious food, not wither and die. It allows mothers and children to spend time at home with their family, at school or with friends, instead of walking countless miles day after day.

Already, Bangkok Lounge has raised £360 for the Amir Khan Foundation and it plans to boost that figure significantly on 4 May.

Tickets to the event cost £40 per person to include a delicious and authentic two-course Thai meal. As well as a raffle with amazing prizes, a range of sports memorabilia will be up for auction.

Tables are available in groups of two, four, six and eight.

Funds raised at the event will help provide life-giving wells across Africa and enable needy communities to share in fresh water for the very first time.

Motin Miah, owner of Bangkok Lounge Group, said: “Here, we have the luxury of being able to take water for granted. Yet, one innocent life is taken every 20 seconds as a result of consuming unclean waters. It may seem unreal to us, but the water crisis is real and affects millions of people.”

The fundraising event takes place from 7pm on Thursday 4th May at

Bangkok Lounge Shefford
2 Bedford Rd
Shefford
SG17 5DJ

Book your ticket by emailing bookings@bangkoklounge.com or calling 01462 338287 / 338292. A 50% non refundable deposit per person will be required. As this is a unique event with limited seating we anticipate the tickets to sell quickly.

If you can’t make the event but would like to help Bangkok Lounge reach its fundraising target, you can make a donation to the cause at www.justgiving.com/fundraising/Motin-Miah.

Bangkok Lounge Shefford has, since 2014, been the main kit sponsor local football club Shefford Saints Juniors FC’s 26 teams and in 2016, hosted the Shefford Annual Duck Race for the 20th time. The race raises funds for the charity, Acorn Pre-School and the Mighty Oaks. Acorn Pre-School is the only community pre-school in Shefford and, as a charity, relies heavily on funds raised at events such as the Duck Race. The Mighty Oaks is the breakfast and after-school club for children who attend the pre-school and pupils at Shefford Lower School.

Bangkok Lounge Harpenden has raised over £26,000 for cancer support charity, Macmillan over the past 15 years through charity evenings featuring auctions and prize raffles. Auction lots have ranged from a signed David Beckham picture frame to hair and beauty treatments and meals at local restaurants. Guests at the charity evenings have included Norma Major, wife of former prime minister, Sir John Major.

Bangkok Lounge Harpenden has received a certificate from Nationwide Building Society in recognition of its charity work.

Bangkok Lounge Group won the St Albans District Chamber of Commerce Community Business Award in 2009 and was a runner up in 2010.

The group, which is also recommended by Metro Online, offers an online take-away and reservations service through www.chefonline.co.uk.
