GateHouse Telecom Showcasing Global Xpress Test Tool at Upcoming Inmarsat Conferences

Ka-band tool simulates satellite connection for low-cost anytime-anywhere laboratory testing

Satellite terminal test leaderGateHouse Telecom A/Stoday announces that it will showcase its new Global Xpress Link Emulator (GLE) 1.0 at three upcoming Inmarsat conferences in 2017.The first event is the Inmarsat Asia-Pacific Conference, Singapore (21-23 March), followed by the Inmarsat Americas Regional Conference, Miami (25-27 April), and ending the year at the Inmarsat World Conference, Lisbon (6-8 November).

GateHouse Telecom is a well-established partner of the satellite communications industry and is the leading independent provider of complete embedded software within Inmarsat's BGAN system. The firm has a global customer base that includes blue-chips Cobham, Honeywell and Thales, allowing them to undertake essential testing of their BGAN, FBB and SBB terminals for commercial, government and military use.

Today, of the approximate 120,000 active BGAN terminals in use, around 50% have been activated using GateHouse's licensed BGAN solutions IP.

GateHouse Telecom has now turned its expertise to the Global Xpress network, the first truly global high-speed broadband network and has launched a new test and demo tool for Ka-band solutions. It enables the firm's customers and partners to test GX solutions better, smarter and at lower cost in government, maritime, aviation and energy/enterprise markets. With GLE, they can emulate, control and document a realistic Ka-band connection on-the-bench without costly airtime and a terminal.

The tool offers a user-friendly network sandbox environment and facilitates exchange of IP data via an emulated Global Xpress connection providing realistic bandwidth and latency. It enables customers to test the behaviour and performance of their GX solutions and optimise robustness and stability.

GLE features include the ability to test multiple SSPCs, possible signal degradation scenarios caused by e.g. storms or blockage, simulate traffic congestion scenarios and optimise for minimum airtime usage.

"The Inmarsat conferences provide GateHouse with the perfect platform to meet with our peers and further demonstrate our leadership in test solutions for the satellite industry," says Tine P. Pedersen, SalesDirector, Satellite Communication, GateHouse Telecom. "We began in BGAN and now our journey extends to Global Xpress."
