QUIRKY HEN WEEKENDS WITH A COUNTRY TWIST: GLAMPING IS THE IN THING!

PRESS RELEASE

QUIRKY HEN WEEKENDS WITH A COUNTRY TWIST: GLAMPING IS THE IN THING!

Hen weekends at Home Farm Glamping in Elstree, Hertfordshire are all about tailoring the weekend to make it perfect for the hen and her guests, and this unique glamping site has seen a rise in demand for hen weekends with an individual angle.

Hen weekends are moving away from nightclubs and trips abroad, with requests for well-being and pampering weekends on the increase. Home Farm is catering for these requests and is offering hens parties everything from yoga and mindfulness, to wine tasting, treasure hunts and learning the ukulel
e!

Home Farm Glamping, run by Jess Gibbs, has three yurts and nine bell tents available for both small and large groups. With bbqs and campfires next to each tent, fine dining options, open air yoga classes and acres of land and forest to explore, Home Farm has become a hen party retreat for those who want something a bit different, which focuses on the group properly catching up and getting to know each other.

Jess says: ‘Think wellies and prosecco because this is glamping! Hen weekend groups often hire the site for two nights, giving plenty of time to catch up with friends as well as spending quality time with the bride. Groups can arrange a caterer and set up long trestle tables in our party tent, in the big Barn to create a more rustic feeling meal, or down by their tents.

‘Hen parties often bring their own booze and food, which is a very good way of keeping costs down for a party, and doing a proper bbq is such fun in a group (especially with no men getting in the way thinking they know best!). Other catering options include picnics delivered in a gorgeous hamper for lunch, or a delicious hog roast, or if you're really going full on glamping, groups sometimes set up a three-course banquet with a chef to cater to the hen party's every need!

Home Farm is easily accessible for Londoners, or those coming from further afield. Londoners can jump off the tube at Stanmore (Jubilee Line) or Edgware (Northern Line) and in five minutes you'll discover rolling green fields and avenues of beautiful, ancient trees. Or if the overland is easier, Elstree & Borehamwood station (Thameslink) is just a couple of miles away and can be walked to. Home Farm is also easily accessible from the M25, A1 and M1.

Jess says Home Farm's alternative attractions are what really makes the hens book in with them: ‘There are a host of things to do at Home Farm, and lots of hens have said to me that just being there is also such a great experience that there is no need for too much organised fun.
There is a croquet lawn and ping pong tables for everyone's use and plenty of space for yoga, boules or rounders. Several groups have organised alternative sports days or treasure hunts with clues based around their bride and her hubby-to-be around the grounds. There are lots of lovely walks around our beautiful lake and woodland and it is easy for a walk to end at one of the nice local pubs.'

If groups want something a bit more structured, all kinds of fun and games can be organised to make the hen weekend extra special. Home Farm is so close to London that most suppliers will happily come out to run activities on site. Recent popular activities have been wine tasting sessions, yoga classes, dance classes, life drawing classes, mug decorating, ukulele lessons, comedy song writing, and flower garland making. Parties can even organise a massage or manicure for the bride in her tent to make her feel super pampered. All these activities are provided through external providers and Home Farm has Indian tent which can be hired for a few hours to accommodate these if needed.

Near to Home Farm are lots of good foodie pubs, a lovely farm shop and tea rooms, spas, a country park (which has a fab petting farm where you can feed the baby animals), golf clubs, Go Ape, and Harry Potter World at Leavesden.

Jess says: ‘If your bride wants to try something a bit different but still luxurious, if she enjoys drinking rosé in the fresh air, toasting marshmallows and star gazing round the campfire with her best friends rather than a standard night out with queues at the bar and dodgy clubs, then glamping is the perfect hen weekend with a country twist. We love hosting hen weekends at Home Farm because they are always different and unique, and everyone falls in love with the glamping experience.'
