LADIES CLUB BRINGS BOTH FRIENDSHIP AND SUPPORT TO SHAKESPEARE HOSPICE

The inaugural Ladies Club event hosted by former international show jumper and award winning events organiser, Dame Emma Jane Brown turned out to be a huge success.

Ladies Night, which took place on Thursday 16^thFebruary, was the first such event designed to create opportunities for local women to find new friendships and different ways of socializing whilst supporting the Shakespeare Hospice.

The night of good food and entertainment saw twenty seven ladies come together and experience a tour of the elegant Jacobean home in which Shakespeare's daughter Susanna and her husband once lived, along with fine dining at the banqueting table, and entertainment from singer, Andrew James.
 

 







 After an evening of historical insight, thirteen lucky women headed home with prizes ranging from designer fashion and spa treatments to handcrafted jewellery. As well as goody bags for all, those guests who didn't leave with prizes were treated to a stunning posy of red roses and woodland foliage. A bouquet of flowers was also donated to the Shakespeare Hospice.

Dame Emma, who is speaking as guest of the Shakespeare Hospice on Wednesday 8^thMarch for International Women's day, reflected, "The night was a huge success thanks to the incredible support of the Shakespeare Birthplace Trust and is a great foundation for fundraising on behalf of the Shakespeare Hospice.

"I am extremely passionate about raising awareness of the incredible work of the Shakespeare Hospice which provides an exceptionally welcoming and caring environment for the sick and their families within the hospice itself while also supporting those who choose to spend their final days in the comfort of their own homes.

"We were moved to tears when Angie Arnold - the Chief Executive of the Shakespeare Hospice, told the story of a man in the final stages of his life who was deeply concerned about the wellbeing of his elderly dog. It seems that the hospice took on the care of the dog, giving him invaluable peace of mind - they really go the extra distance and that's why I am so proud to support them!"

The event raised £177.00 for the Shakespeare Hospice which is located in nearby Shottery. The Fundraising Team Supervisor, Jo Reeves said, "It was a really useful evening for the hospice as we felt we were able to reach out to a new Stratford audience that were unaware of all the services and support we offer."
