Lessons in infrared comfort

Herschel's infrared heaters are perfect for heating school buildings

Cost-effective, adaptable and consistently comfortable, Herschel Far infrared is the ideal heating solution for the school environment. The heaters easily replace existing inefficient systems, may be zoned and controlled to suit exact heating requirements and will remain effective even in draughty situations where heat would normally be lost.

Traditional convector heaters, often found in schools, heat the air volume whereas Herschel Far infrared directly heats people and objects, including the mass of the building which then acts like a giant storage heater. This creates a better level of comfort and the feeling is similar to the warmth of the winter sun. Heat loss through open doors, windows or poor insulation is greatly reduced and required comfort levels are reached with a lower wattage compared to many conventional heating systems.

Infrared technology is suitable for new build and retrofit situations in school buildings of different ages and construction types. One example of how the heaters have been used is at the Royal Hospital School at Holbrook, Suffolk. Here, some 170 Herschel infrared heaters have been installed in the design technology building, to replace a wet system powered by an oil boiler, as part of the school's focus on energy and maintenance savings.

Herschel offers a range of infrared heaters for wall or ceiling mounting.Thermostatic control is via accompanying software which can monitor the heating usage on a floor by floor, or room by room, basis. Simple to install, the systems are zero maintenance and offer silent operation without fumes, increased comfort levels for users and reductions in energy use and carbon emissions.
